FireCut alternatives in 2026: 6 options compared for Premiere Pro

FireCut starts at $19/month ($10 yearly) for silence cutting. Six alternatives compared on price, what each automates and where the result lands — editable timeline or flattened export. Prices checked 26 September 2026.

Read this before the table. I am a video editor and I built one of the six tools compared here, Black Hat Editor Tools. So every price below carries the page it came from and the date I read it — 26 September 2026 — and the paragraph on what FireCut does better than us is not a formality. These products change their pricing monthly; open the links before you pay anything.

What does FireCut actually do, and what does it cost?

FireCut is a plugin, not a website. Its Premiere Pro page lists silence cutting, animated captions in 50+ languages, automatic podcast editing with camera switches, Storyblocks B-roll, chapters and auto zooms, and it is explicit about where the work lands: "Because the editing is done in your sequence, you can still edit the cuts that are made." The same page claims "10,000+ creators" (firecut.ai/premiere-pro, read 26 September 2026).

Three tiers, checked on firecut.ai/pricing/all the same day:

Team starts at $34/mo per user. Every tier gets a 7-day free trial. There are also standalone DaVinci Resolve plans (Captions $12.99/mo, Pro $20.99/mo, Max $59.99/mo) and a separate browser product, FireCut Shorts, whose free plan outputs 720p with a watermark.

That last detail is the one to hold on to: FireCut the plugin edits your sequence, FireCut Shorts hands you a rendered file. Those are two different products and two different workflows.

Why editors look for a FireCut alternative

Four reasons come back constantly, and only one of them is about quality:

• The 7-day trial is short. A week is enough to test silence cutting on one video, not to find out how the captions behave on a real client project.
• The useful tier is not the advertised one. $10/mo billed yearly is the headline, but that tier is silences and J-cuts. Captions, zooms and podcast switching live on Pro, which is $20/mo yearly, $34 monthly.
• Transcription is metered. 25 hours a month on Pro, 100 on Max. If you cut long-form interviews, count your hours before you pick a tier.
• You may already own half of it. Premiere removes pauses and filler words natively, and since 26.5 it assembles rough cuts from the transcript. Paying for silence cutting without having tried the free route is the most common mistake in this category.

None of that makes FireCut a bad plugin. It makes it a plugin you should price against what you actually use.

The alternatives, one by one

Premiere Pro itself — the one you have already paid for

Text-Based Editing transcribes the clip, then the funnel filter in the Transcript panel selects every Pause and every Filler word so you can delete them in one action. Premiere 26.5, September 2026, added Paper Edit: you "select the sentences or dialogue you want to keep, and preview your selections before creating a new sequence" (Adobe, September 2026).

Where it beats FireCut: it costs nothing extra, it is already installed, and on clean voice in a quiet room the result is the same. Where it loses: it works from the transcript, not the waveform. No decibel threshold, no minimum length, no padding — so on music beds, noisy rooms and multicam it is the wrong tool. The full walkthrough is in our guide to removing silences in Premiere Pro.

AutoCut — the cheapest way in, and Resolve too

Basic is $9.90/mo ($79/year, so $6.60/mo) and contains silence cutting only. The AI plan is $19.80/mo ($178.80/year, so $14.90/mo) and unlocks the full set: AutoCaptions, AutoCut Silences, AutoCut Podcast, AutoCut Angles, AutoZoom, AutoViral, AutoB-Rolls, AutoCut Repeat, AutoProfanity Filter, AutoChapters, AutoResize. Enterprise is $238.80/year per seat. The 14-day trial asks for no credit card (autocut.com/en/pricing, 26 September 2026).

Its homepage makes the same promise FireCut does about staying put: "Works inside Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. No export or re-import."

Where it beats FireCut: half the entry price, a trial with no card, and two modules nobody else here has — a profanity filter and automatic resizing. Where FireCut wins: script-guided editing and AI voiceover on Max have no AutoCut equivalent, and FireCut's transcription hours are stated in plain numbers.

AutoPod — if the real job is multicam

One plan, $29/mo, 30-day trial on monthly billing. Three modules: Multi-Camera Editor ("up to 10 cameras and 10 microphones"), Jump Cut Editor, Social Clip Creator (autopod.fm).

Where it beats FireCut: the camera ceiling. Nothing else on this page states 10 cameras and 10 mics. Where FireCut wins: everything that is not multicam. No captions, no B-roll, no transcription at AutoPod. And FireCut runs on Resolve; AutoPod does not.

PremiereCopilot — the lowest paid price, and a real free tier

The free plan carries daily rate limits: 2 jump cuts / smart silences a day, 4 smart captions, 5 smart subtitles, 4 auto zooms / virals / chapters, 2 Vibe Motion — with commercial use allowed. Pro+ is $7.99/month, with a 20% discount on annual billing, and adds Podcast & Jump Cut, GenAI, and 10× the daily quotas. Studio is $63/mo for 4 seats. Two modules are also sold as one-time licences (Podcast & Jump Cut, GenAI Studio); the page did not display their prices when I read it on 26 September 2026 (premierecopilot.com/en/pricing).

Where it beats FireCut: you can work for free, today, with no card and no watermark — just a daily counter. Where FireCut wins: volume. Four auto zooms a day is a demo, not a workflow, and FireCut's transcription allowance is measured in hours rather than clips.

Phantom Editor — the generous free tier, with a caveat

Phantom lists a free plan and a single paid plan, Phantom Pro, at $19/month billed annually ($228 a year). On 26 September 2026 its pricing page showed the same 14+ toolset and the same 20 hours of AI minutes per month on both tiers (phantomeditor.video/pricing). That is either an unusually generous free plan or a page that has drifted from the product. Test it on your own account before you plan around it — that is the honest read, not a recommendation either way.

Where it beats FireCut: the toolset is broad (silence removal, multicam, captions, transcription, chapter markers, stock media, a video downloader) and the free tier is not watermarked. Where FireCut wins: Resolve support, published transcription limits, and a tier structure you can reason about.

Black Hat Editor Tools — breadth in one panel, and an agent that acts

Mine, so weigh it accordingly. The free plan needs no card: local transcription, captions on 5 videos a month, Auto-Zoom, Transitions, Web Capture, Media Finder and Media Library, capped at 2 renders a day. Essentiel is $15/mo ($144/year) for every tool with no generation credits. Pro is $40/mo ($384/year) and adds 4,000 AI video credits a month, the in-panel agent and the AI analysis of the edit. The 14-day Pro trial requires a card (pricing).

On the silence job specifically, the difference is the undo. Our AutoCut tool decompresses the .prproj, removes the silent segments, recomputes every position and reimports — one operation, so one Ctrl+Z reverses the whole pass instead of several hundred. Four presets set the three parameters that matter: Podcast −38 dB / 0.3 s, Interview −42 dB / 0.5 s, Aggressive −32 dB / 0.2 s, Gentle −45 dB / 0.8 s.

Where FireCut wins over us: DaVinci Resolve, full stop — we are a Premiere Pro CEP extension and we simply do not install on Resolve. FireCut is also cheaper than our Pro plan, its AI voiceover and script-guided editing have no equivalent here, and its Storyblocks integration gives you licensed stock rather than generated shots. What we add: AI video generation straight onto the timeline, an agent you talk to that runs on your own Claude subscription, and a local media library indexed with ffprobe. What FireCut does better than every alternative here

Said plainly, because a comparison that only flatters its author is worthless:

1. Two hosts, one subscription. Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, including the free version of Resolve. Only AutoCut matches that; everything else on this page is Premiere-only.
2. Transcription hours you can count. 25 h on Pro, 100 h on Max. Most competitors describe their allowance in credits or clips, which tells you nothing until you have burned through it.
3. AI voiceover and script-guided editing on Max. Feed it a script, get an edit shaped to it. Nobody else in this comparison ships that pair.
4. Named stock, not generated stock. Storyblocks B-roll is licensed footage of real things. AI generation is better for the impossible shot and worse for "a wide of Paris".
5. A browser sibling. FireCut Shorts handles clipping when you do not want to open Premiere at all — at the cost of a flattened export.

Which one should you pick?

1. You have not tried Premiere's native pause deletion — do that today, before paying anyone. Start with the silence removal guide.
2. You cut on DaVinci Resolve — FireCut or AutoCut. Every other tool on this page is a Premiere extension and will not install.
3. Silences are the only thing you automate — AutoCut Basic ($9.90/mo, card-free trial) or PremiereCopilot's free tier. FireCut Starter at $10/mo yearly is competitive only if you commit to a year.
4. Long-form interviews, many hours a month — FireCut Max for the 100 transcription hours, or a plugin that transcribes locally with no hour cap.
5. Multicam podcasts on 8+ cameras — AutoPod. The ceiling decides it.
6. You want one panel for silences, captions, zooms, B-roll and generation — Black Hat Editor Tools or Phantom Pro. The full AI plugin comparison breaks that down per use case.
7. You only ever want punch-ins on talking heads — do not buy an editing suite for it. Read automatic zoom in Premiere Pro first; part of it is a free effect preset.

The short version

FireCut earns its place: two hosts, stated transcription hours, and edits that land in your sequence rather than in an export. It stops being the obvious choice when you only need one of its modules, when a week is not enough to evaluate it, or when Premiere's own pause deletion already handles your footage. Price it against the one job you actually automate — silences, captions, multicam, zooms — and buy that job.
